I saw the picture above on Pinterest a while back and was immediately smitten! She is simple yet deep, geeky and gorgeous, childish yet womanly.... I think the artist, Irena Sophia, has captured something really special in this illustration. Looking further into Irena's work I've discovered a whole little world of loveliness!
Irena Sophia is based in Zagreb, Croatia, where she draws and paints whimsical pieces inspired by a love of vintage illustration and folk art. Her work is delicate, simple and peaceful, but I get the feeling her characters are deeply driven women quietly seeking fulfillment and happiness in a strange, sometimes challenging world.
